Victor Caruncho
Victor Caruncho, a New York native, embodies a lifelong passion for the arts that was nurtured within a family of artists. Surrounded by the masterpieces of old masters—Rembrandt, Vermeer, Van Gogh, Dali, Magritte, and his revered Caravaggio—Victor's artistic journey has been profoundly influenced by these luminaries.
After high school, Victor pursued his dream by applying to the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan, where he was accepted but ultimately unable to attend due to financial constraints. This setback led him through years of varied employment, yet his dedication to artistic expression remained steadfast. He redirected his path by enrolling in the Plaza School of Architectural Drafting and Design in New Jersey, where he refined his drafting skills and collaborated with reputable architectural firms.
Despite his success in architecture, Victor's artistic spirit could not be contained. "Drawing and Painting will never cease from my veins; it's in my blood!" he proclaims, encapsulating his unwavering commitment to the arts. As the industry evolved toward digital mediums, he transitioned to establish himself as a successful Decorative Faux Painter and Artisan. His business flourished, featuring an array of projects that included intricate faux finishes and stunning murals, along with fine art canvas work.
Victor's unique perspective of the world is reflected in his artwork, which honors the surrealist traditions of Dali and Magritte. His pieces challenge the viewer's perception of the ordinary, presenting familiar objects in peculiar contexts that elicit both thought and amusement. Victor's art is rich with hidden meanings and playful wordplay, inviting a dialogue that transcends the visual experience. Through his enigmatic style, he continues to provoke curiosity and wonder, making the mundane appear extraordinary.
